ElefantAsia is proud to present their new website. It has been a long and slow process to design and produce this new site and we hope that you are satisfied with its new look and features. It features edscriptions of our programmes and actions and focuses on 'campaigns' which everyone of us can support. This will give our organisation more flexibility in terms of fund raising and more dynamism in terms of action follow up. Part of the site is aslo dedicated to our partners and we strongly encourage you to visit their pages. This webiste uses a so-called 'responsive' technology allowing it to adapt to users devices, such as laptops, tablets or smartphones. We hope you enjoy it!
ElefantAsia is pursuing their actions in Laos. Although our 'Lao Elephant Care and Management Programme' (LECMP) was handed over to the Lao Government back in november 2012, we are continuing our work at the Elephant Hospital of the Elephant Conservation Center (ECC) in Sayaboury province. Our teams of vets, biologists and conservationists are providing support to the Department of Livestock and Fisheries of Laos. With our mobile clinics, we provide both training to mahouts and veterinary care to elephants in need throughout Laos. Our Elephant Rescue programme goes on too, with the continued support to US-based Elephants Umbrella Funds. Come pay us a visit at the ECC to meet our teams and our recued elephants!
ElefantAsia is expanding its activities to Myanmar. With over 9.000 elephants, both wild and captive, Myanmar is the second largest home for the Asian elephant globally. ElefantAsia is currently meeting with representatives of the Myanmar Timber Enterprise, the Forestry Department and various other ministries to discuss the implementation of conservation actions in country. As a first action, ElefantAsia plan to produce a series of cultural events to promote the elephant and raise awareness obout the urgent need for action to save the species in this unique reservoir. Elephants are sacred in myanmar and we intend to use this 'cultural' specificity to gain support from both the people and government of Myanmar.
